# How to play Thirteen (Tiến Lên Miền Nam)

**GENERAL RULES**

Thirteen (Tiến Lên Miền Nam) is a card game played with a standard 52-card deck. You can play with 2 to 4 players. Each player gets 13 cards.

The goal is to be the first to get rid of all your cards. The game can end when one player finishes first or when only one player is left with cards, depending on the game mode.

**RANKING OF CARDS**

The cards are ranked from lowest to highest: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K, A, and 2.

If two cards have the same rank, their suits decide which is higher. The suits are ranked from lowest to highest as follows: Spades ♠, Clubs ♣, Diamonds <mark style="color:red;">♦</mark>, Hearts <mark style="color:red;">♥</mark> (highest).

**GAMEPLAY**&#x20;

*(Please note there are many different variations of the game rules. These are the rules that we think work best for our game and player base.)*

* The player with the 3♠ starts the game if there is no previous winner at the table.
* If there are fewer than 4 players and no one has the 3♠, a player is chosen at random to start.
* In subsequent games, the previous game's winner starts.
* The first player can play any valid combination of cards. Each player must then play a higher combination or pass. Players can choose to pass even if they have higher cards, often for strategic reasons.
* The round continues until no one can beat the last played combination. The player who played that combination clears the table and starts a new round with any valid combination.
* Only a higher combination of the same type and number of cards can beat a combination.
* If you don’t have any playable combinations, you can pass. However, you cannot play again until someone wins the round.
* A sequence (run) can only be beaten by a higher sequence. In this case, the suits don’t matter; only the highest card in each sequence matters.
* The first person to run out of cards wins the game.

**PLAYABLE COMBINATIONS (SPECIAL)**

These special combinations are called CHOPs/BOMBs. They can stop the strongest cards in the game, the 2s. CHOPs/BOMBs can also defeat each other.&#x20;

**AUTOMATIC WINS**

There are a few ways to instantly win the game. After an auto-win, the player with the Three of Spades (3♠) will go first in the next game. The following hands will reward an auto-win:

**OTHER SPECIAL SITUATIONS**

**Locked:** A player loses double if they did not play a single card before another player finishes their hand.


# Tournament Rules

Tournaments are one of our signature game modes! It allows players to compete and showcase their skills over a specific length of time. Players who consistently make the best use of their hands usually do well in this mode, though some luck is needed to finish in the top ranks.

**GENERAL RULES**

* Tournaments follow Classic Mode game rules.
* The starting prize pool is 250,000,000 Gold (and increases with every additional 1,000 entries) . 85% of each entry fee is added to the prize pool as gold and gems.
* Each entry gives you 60 starting tournament chips.
* Maximum participants per tournament: 5,000 (subject to change).
* Players can rebuy into the tournament once for 10 gems, receiving 30 tournament chips.

**POINTS SYSTEM**

* Players earn at least 1 point for each hand where they don't finish last, with more points awarded for higher placements.
* Every 5 tournament chips equal 1 tournament point.
* Players are ranked by their total points, which depend on their chip count and hand results. Final rankings are based on total points accumulated throughout the tournament.
* The top 10% of players receive rewards. The rewards are finalized and sent to the in-game mailbox 15 minutes after the tournament ends.

**TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE**

* There is one tournament every week.
* Registration times are announced a few days before the tournament, usually around the same time each week.
* You may unregister before the tournament starts with a 10% penalty deducted from your entry fee.
* Tournaments run for 3 hours from the start time. Players must have at least 10 chips to play, and those with fewer than 10 chips are eliminated.


# Ranked Play

Compete against the best players from around the world for your chance to be crowned Grandmaster! Each ranked season lasts roughly 28 days (subject to change). Glory and treasure await you!

**BASIC RULES**

* Rank points reset at the beginning of each season.
* Players must play one ranked match at the start of each season to unlock their shield. You can only earn rank points after your shield is unlocked.
* Energy is required to play in this mode.
* This mode follows Classic Mode game rules.
* Players who reach a certain rank level will be promoted to higher ranks.
* Players who drop below a certain number of rank points will be demoted to a lower rank.

**RANK POINTS**

* At the end of each hand, the winner(s) gain rank points, and the loser(s) lose rank points.
* Chopping pigs earns additional rank points; getting your pigs chopped loses rank points.
* Players with pigs that get locked will lose rank points to the players who lock them.

**ENERGY SYSTEM**

* A minimum of 2 energy is required to find a match. You will be removed from a table and/or unable to find a match if you have less than 2 energy.
* All players consume energy after each hand. Winning players lose less energy, while losing players lose more. Players who get locked lose 6 energy.
* Energy regenerates automatically at a rate of 1 energy per 300 seconds once below maximum capacity.
* Each player's base energy pool starts at 100. You can increase the maximum energy pool by raising your THG rank and/or VIP level.
* You can buy more energy with gems or gain more by watching ads (up to five times a day).

6. **Behavioral Conduct:** Users must not engage in abusive behavior towards other players or game administrators.
7. **Exploitation:** Engaging in any form of game exploitation, such as abusing game mechanics, exploiting bugs (known or unknown) for an unfair advantage, or using third-party software to interfere with the game, is forbidden.

**Account Associations:** Accounts linked to other violating accounts are subject to bans, at our discretion.

We reserve the right to modify, add to, or amend these rules at any time without prior notice. Regularly reviewing these terms ensures that you remain informed of any changes.

**Warning:** Any other websites or Facebook pages claiming to provide top-up services are fraudulent. Pig Hunters does NOT support transactions through phone cards or any other external websites or social media pages. Stay vigilant to avoid falling victim to these scams.
